A Short Bio Sketch

I am an Applied Economist. My academic journey progressed through a historically black Kentucky State University to Oklahoma State University as an MS and a PhD student. I earned a B.Sc. in Agricultural Economics from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. My research focuses on the economics, sustainability, and policy-making aspects of the agriculture and energy nexus and technological innovation to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions. Some of my most recent works are related to the adoption and policy aspects of renewable energy technologies, such as sustainable aviation biofuel and agrivoltaics, in the US. I am also interested in developmental and political economics. I use econometrics, geospatial analysis, social surveys, and machine learning tools to investigate socioeconomic phenomena and application of economic and social theories. Highlights from Post-doctoral Research

I am a postdoc at Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter School of Public Policy at Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). At Georgia Tech, my research are economic impact and technical efficiency of sustainable aviation biofuel production in the US. Before Georgia Tech, I was a post-doctoral fellow at Auburn University as a member of Sustainably Collocating Agricultural and Photovoltaic Electricity System (SCAPES) project. This project investigates the profitability and feasibility of Agrivoltaic systems (AV) in the midwest US. At Auburn, I was exploring feedstock pathways to meet sustainable aviation biofuel demand by 2030 and decarbonize global aviation industry by 2050 and their economic impact at local to national level. This involves designing land management and contracting policies for renewable energy developers and farmers in order to maximize their profits and improve renewable energy generation and increase agricultural production. In this project, I focused on understand the motivation and barriers to AV adoption among farmers and solar stakeholders and specialty crop AV profitability in the US. I also studied the effects of small refinery exemptions on ethanol and aviation biofuel markets using Structural VAR models.

Highlights from Graduate Research

During my MS research, I studied sustainability, technology adoption, efficiency, productivity, succession, and diversity of small and limited resource farmers in Kentucky. I studied economics and behavioral aspects of ecosystem sustainability in my PhD.
