Abstract Nepal is an agricultural country where more than 60% of people depend upon agriculture(Karki and Ghimire, 2003). Total contribution of agricultural sector in GDP of Nepal is 32.35% (MOAC, 2008/09). Among them contribution of livestock sector in total GDP is 30% (FAO, 2005) and pig is second contributor in meat production according to record of MOAC, 2008/09. In 2002, I read an article by Norman Uphoff on (System of Rice Intensification) SRI in the LEISA Magazine. I thought that this technology might be useful for Nepalese farmers as well. I contacted Mr. Uphoff for more information on SRI, and in 2003 I established two small rice plots using SRI principles: planting young seedlings, wide spacing, less water, and some weeding. My healthy plants produced an equivalent of more than 7 tons/ha. Abstract: This study mainly deals with rice seed production. There were four treatments (farmyard manure, farmyard manure+inorganic fertilizer, inorganic fertilizer and control) in three varieties (Apo, IR and CT) of rice. Experimental design used was Completely Randomized Block Design (RCBD). Under my supervision, seed production of Apo variety was done with control treatment (without using any fertilizers and manures) in area of 10 m2 (4m*2.5m).
